Brass Coffee Makers
Incredibly, some espresso machines are solid leaded brass or
have leaded brass parts.
Health Hazards: Both hot water and acid (from the
coffee) encourage leaching of lead into your coffee cup.
Drinking this coffee as well as handling the machine's
components will expose you to lead.
How to Avoid or Minimize Exposure: There are many other options for
coffee makers on the market. Test your espresso machine’s
brass parts with a home
lead test kit
and buy products that do not have leaded-brass parts
when possible.
