PVC Christmas and other String Lights
Health Hazards:
Lights strung on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) cords
present a lead-exposure risk when handling. Click
here for more info on Lead Stabilizers in PVC. Formerly
used almost exclusively on Christmas trees, these lights are
becoming increasingly popular as a year-round decoration. Most
of these lights use PVC that contains lead. You can determine
if yours do with a home
lead test kit.
How to Avoid or Minimize Exposure: Wash
your hands after stringing lights. This is also a bright and
flashy product that attracts young hands. This is not a toy;
so keep out of reach of children.
