Protecting Endangered Species

Protecting species and their wild places is crucial for our health and our future. While it’s true that plant and animal species have been appearing and disappearing continuously since life here began, species have been vanishing at an increasingly rapid pace since the industrial revolution. Human-caused pollution and habitat loss are primarily to blame. Life is inherently valuable. When species are lost, so too are our options for new medicines, and our options to protect our food supplies from natural disasters and the effects of global warming. Of course, there is also great aesthetic and spiritual value to Earth’s richness of biodiversity.
