About Us
Ecological Rights Foundation is devoted to furthering the rights to a clean, healthful, and biologically diverse environment.
EcoRights represents citizens in protecting California’s waterways from pollution, securing the multitude of benefits that flow from clean, vibrant waters: safe drinking water, abundant and diverse wildlife populations, healthy recreational opportunities, and economic prosperity from commercial fishing, tourism, and other commercial activities that depend on clean water.
EcoRights takes action to protect California’s wildlands and wildlife. California’s abundant and diverse wildlife is a function of its diverse habitats - from the Pacific to the Sierra Nevada, from the southern deserts to the northern temperate rainforests, California provides many different habitats. The diversity in habitats means that many different species have their niche here. However, this diversity is declining under the pressure of multiple stressors, such as habitat destruction and modification, water pollution, and even air pollution.
EcoRights is also a leader in researching toxic exposures from consumer products. Over the past decade and a half, we have identified scores of consumer products that cause serious toxic exposures to the products’ users. Our research has lead to numerous legal actions and commitments from hundreds of companies to reformulate their products, replacing the toxic ingredients with non-toxic alternatives.
